nd-prices-economic NEWS RELEASE Agricultural Prices June 29, 2005 North Dakota Agricultural Prices The Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products in June is 110 percent of the 1990-1992 base, according to the North Dakota Agricultural Statistics Service. This is down 7 percent from last year but 4 percent above two years ago. The All Crops Index, at 107 percent of the base, is down 10 percent from June 2004 while the All Livestock Index, at 120 percent, is up 6 percent from last year. June indexes are calculated using preliminary mid-month prices. The May Index of Prices Received for All Farm Products, recalculated with full month prices, was 112 percent of the base, down 7 percent from May 2004. The All Crops Index, at 104 percent, was down 13 percent from the previous year while the All Livestock Index, at 129 percent, was up 8 percent. Preliminary June prices, followed by the change from May: Spring Wheat, $3.30 per bushel, up 2 cents; Durum Wheat, $3.40 per bushel, down 23 cents; Winter Wheat, $2.45 per bushel, down 14 cents; Feed Barley, $1.40 per bushel, down 14 cents; Malting Barley, $2.35 per bushel, down 7 cents; Corn, $1.90 per bushel, up 4 cents; Soybeans, $6.30 per bushel, up 30 cents; Flaxseed, $9.10 per bushel, down $2.50; Oil Sunflower, $13.00 per hundredweight (cwt.), down 50 cents; Non-Oil Sunflower, $21.90 per cwt., down 50 cents; All Dry Edible Beans, $21.90 per cwt., down $1.50; All Potatoes, $5.85 per cwt., unchanged; Alfalfa Hay, $63.00 per ton, up $2.00; Other Hay, $41.00 per ton, down $5.00; Steers and Heifers, $110.00 per cwt., down $1.00; Cows, $60.00 per cwt., down $2.50; Calves, $137.00 per cwt., down $2.00. May whole month prices, with no preliminary June, followed by the change from April: Canola, $10.70 per cwt., up 50 cents; Navy Beans, $26.00 per cwt., up $2.20; Pinto Beans, $23.90 per cwt., down $1.60; Fresh Potatoes, $6.00 per cwt., up 55 cents; Potatoes for Processing, $6.20 per cwt., up 20 cents; Hogs, $54.70 per cwt., up $1.40; Lambs, $114.00 per cwt., up $1.00; Sheep, $44.00 per cwt., up $2.00. June prices are preliminary and based on sales data for only part of the month. They will be replaced with whole month prices in next month's report. May prices are based on sales data for the entire month.
