1997 COMMERCIAL TROUT SUMMARY
Foodsize trout (trout 12 inches or longer) totaled 991,000 pounds in 1997. This was an increase of 6
percent from the previous year and accounted for 91 percent of Virginia's total production. Foodsize trout
averaged $2.03 per pound for a total value of $2.0 million in 1997.
Virginia is still ranked seventh nationally in total value of trout sales. .
