Pasture Rents Down Slightly In Wyoming
The average rent for pasture and rangeland in Wyoming in 2003 was $3.50 per acre, down 30 cents from last year and equal to 2001. For the Mountain Region (Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming), cash rent for pastureland averaged $3.40 per acre, down 10 cents from 2002 and down 40 cents from two years ago. Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming also all saw declines in average rent. New Mexico was unchanged.
UNITED STATES: Pasture cash rent at the U.S. level was down 20 cents from last year to $9.00 per acre. Increases for the Northeast, Lake States, Northern Plains, Southeast, and Southern Plains were more than offset by decreases in the Delta States, Mountain, and Pacific regions.
Wisconsin again had the highest pasture rent at $36.00 per acre, unchanged from last year. The region with the highest average pasture rent was the Corn Belt (IL, IA, and MO) which averaged $27.00 per acre, unchanged from 2002.
