Event: 2021 Kansas Wildfires

Description: This report deails the extent of agriculture possibly
affected by wildfires in mid-December 2021 in Kansas. Figure 1 shows
fire perimeter data produced by NASS based on Sentinel-2A and MODIS Aqua 
optical imagery dated December 18, 2021. This is overlaid onto the 2020
Cropland Data Layer. Figure 2 shows the same fire perimeters over a set
of five Sentinel-2A satellite images. Table 1 shows the acres and percent
of acres in each county that were within the Fire Perimeter. The acres
are not official NASS estimates are are based on planted area identified
in the 2020 Cropland Data Layer and the 2020 Cultivated Layer. Most row
crop fields were harvested prior to the fire events, as noted in the Kansas
Crop Progress and Condition Report for the week ending December 12, 2021.
