About Us

The Kansas Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is one of 4 state offices serviced by the Northern Plains Regional Field Office (RFO), located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Data collection and analysis for Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota is done through the RFO. NASS continues to maintain a physical presence in Kansas with an office in the Riley County USDA Service Center in Manhattan.

The primary mission of both the Kansas Field Office and Northern Plains Regional Field Office is to provide timely, accurate and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture. Farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses provide the information used in setting agricultural estimates by responding to voluntary surveys conducted throughout the year. Statisticians from the Northern Plains RFO analyze these survey indications and make recommendations about Kansas agriculture to NASS headquarters in Washington D.C. Statisticians in NASS headquarters review the State recommendations and release the national and state estimates to the public on scheduled dates throughout the year. NASS issues over 400 national and 9,000 state reports annually.

All NASS reports are available online free of charge. You can obtain these reports by Subscribing Online. Contact the Kansas Field Office by calling (800) 582-6443, faxing (855) 270-2720, or emailing nassrfonpr@nass.usda.gov.

The Kansas Field Office works cooperatively with the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Kansas State University College of Agriculture.
