ASB Notice

NASS to Conduct Program Review

Issued October 31, 2018 by the Agricultural Statistics Board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's, National Agricultural Statistics Service. For more information, contact Dan Kerestes at (202)720-3896 or dan.kerestes@usda.gov.

Because the Census of Agriculture provides the most comprehensive data across all commodities and states, USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service conducts a thorough review of its estimating programs upon the completion of each census every five years. The goal of the review is to ensure that the annual estimating programs target the commodities and states most relevant to U.S. agriculture. In addition to census data, we will consider all available information when determining whether to add/delete specific programs and when selecting the individual states included in each commodity program.

With data collection for the 2017 Census of Agriculture now complete, NASS is beginning the program review process. If you would like to provide comments or other information about a specific NASS program that you would like us to consider during this process, please send your input and contact information to nass@nass.usda.gov with NASS Program Review in the subject line by November 20, 2018.
