WASHINGTON, Nov 17, 2014  –The annual meeting of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics will take place in St. Louis and Brentwood, MO, on Dec. 2-3, 2014.

The agenda includes a discussion of the 2017 Censuses of Agriculture; response rates and respondent relations; expanding the data enclave, and the NASS communications plan. There will also be addresses on the USDA Research, Education, and Economics area by Under Secretary Dr. Catherine Woteki and an update on NASS by Administrator Joseph T. Reilly.

The meeting is open to the public and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 3. The meeting on Dec. 2 will take place at USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service’s (NASS) National Operations Center, 9700 Page Avenue, St. Louis. On Dec. 3, the meeting will be held at the Drury Inn & Suites-Brentwood, 8700 Eager Road, Brentwood, MO. There will be an opportunity for public questions and comments at 9:45 a.m. on the 3rd.

The committee advises the Secretary of Agriculture and NASS on the scope, content and timing of surveys and the every-five-year Census of Agriculture. The 20 committee members represent a broad range of agricultural disciplines and interests.
