About Us

The Alaska Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in Palmer is one of four state offices serviced by the Northwest Regional Field Office (RFO), located in Olympia, WA. Data collection and analysis for Alaska is done through the RFO.

The primary mission of both the Alaska Field Office and Northwest Regional Field Office is to provide timely, accurate and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture. Farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses provide the information used in setting agricultural estimates by responding to voluntary surveys conducted throughout the year. Statisticians from the Northwest RFO analyze these survey indications and make recommendations about Alaska agriculture to NASS headquarters in Washington D.C. Statisticians in NASS headquarters review the State recommendations and release national and state information to the public on scheduled dates throughout the year. NASS issues over 400 national and 9,000 state reports annually.

All NASS reports are available online free of charge. You can obtain these reports by Subscribing Online.
